| There are approximately 80 families that frequent the center on a regular base. The membership of the mosque boasts a very diverse group of people with ethnic backgrounds ranging from North Africa to South East Asia. The Imam (religious scholar) Mowafak Algalaieni, originally from Syria and a former Imam of Ann Arbor Islamic Center, is one of the most seasoned scholars of Islam in Michigan and happens to be the focal point of all activities in the center. The executive committee is made up of a highly active group of physicians that are affiliated with Genesys, McLaren, and Hurley hospitals on many different levels. |
